With the success & rollout of our 360 Sync app that is now on the Autodesk App Store, we've been fielding a lot of questions about how to set up Apps & Integrations for BIM 360. This blog will show you step by step how to setup an Integration for 360 Sync use.

If you're testing out 360 Sync, take a look at my Trial Notes blog that will give you the scoop on what is included with the Trial Version.

Manually Setting up 360 Sync

First, download 360 Sync from our Downloads Page. Download the "360 Sync for Windows" link. Unzip the file & install it.

  1. If you haven't done so already, you need to sign up for a BIM 360 account. Use your username & password & login. BIM 360 uses the same Autodesk login as the rest of your Autodesk software.

Login to BIM 360Click on Settings & then click on Custom Integrations. Select "Add Custom Integration" on the left.

  1. Once you've logged in, click on the Settings button at the top. Next, hit Custom Integrations. Tap the blue "Add Custom Integration" button on the left.
Hit Next. Choose, "I'm the developer." and hit Next
  2. Next, make sure that the app has both BIM 360 Account Administration & BIM 360 Docs access & then hit "Next." Make sure to click "I'm the developer," on the following window & hit "Next."
Fill in the important data about the app. Make sure to use our Client ID (referenced below).
  3. Once the "Add Customer Integration" window shows up, fill out all of the important information. You will be prompted to enter a Forge ID. This is very important - you need to copy & paste the Client ID below so that you can manually setup 360 Sync & hit save. Make sure that you copy the following Client ID below into the "Forge Client ID" section:

  4. Once you've done this, you'll see that the 360 Sync app is included in your Custom Apps & Integrations. There will be a green dot & it will say, "Active" next to it. If you see it, you're ready to use 360 Sync!

Download from the BIM 360 App Store

You can also download the app by clicking on the Apps section up top & navigating to the 360 Sync app.

  1. Goto the Account Admin section of BIM 360 & select the Apps button on the right. Under "Featured Apps," on the left, navigate down to 360 Sync (it's midway down the page & looks like the logo shown). Click on it.
To add 360 Sync, hit "Add to BIM 360." You can read & learn more about 360 Sync by clicking on the app.
  2. When you click on the logo, it automatically takes you to the 360 Sync App page within BIM 360. You can read & learn more about the capabilities of 360 Sync & also choose to activate it automatically by clicking the "Add to BIM 360" button on the left. For me, it shows the "Open" button in this example, but if you haven't yet installed it, it will prompt you to "Add to BIM 360" instead.
  3. Once you've done this, you'll see that the 360 Sync app is included in your Custom Apps & Integrations. There will be a green dot & it will say, "Active" next to it. If you see it, you're ready to use 360 Sync!
