I came across a great presentation by Bill O'Connor of Autodesk, that is worth sharing. Starting with a wide net of innovations, Bill makes a broad case for Autodesk Innovation Genome. The goal of this research project is to develop a comprehensive innovation methodology comprised of new innovation techniques that are both powerful and practical. The purpose is to help people and organizations create real innovations that positively impact their organizations and the world.

These innovation techniques are currently being used at Autodesk, by dozens of Autodesk customers, across Silicon Valley, and in 12+ countries around the world. The main topics in this presentation revolves around these 8 topics:

  1. Leveraging 3.4 Million Years of R&D
  2. Discovering the True DNA of Innovation
  3. Methodology
  4. Visualize the Innovation Environment
  5. Develop an Innovation Target
  6. Generate Innovation Ideas with the 7 Essential Innovation Questions
  7. Create Innovation Prioritization
  8. Initiate Innovation Project Execution
